Currently, FBISD is ranked the number one school district in the state of Texas. They offer many educational options for their students, including Magnet programs and Accountability ratings. They also have an Early Childhood department, Fine arts education, and a Skyward program.
Early Childhood Department
Providing a sound foundation for your child’s early learning is the mission of the FBISD Skyward Early Childhood Department. There are several programs that are designed to give your child a headstart. The best part is that your child will not have to pay for them. For more information, visit the FBISD website.
Aside from the standard curriculum offerings, the department also offers special programs for students with developmental delays and those with learning disabilities. The Star of Texas Award is one such program. This is a program that focuses on life skills, such as communication and social skills, and is awarded to eligible students who have met certain eligibility requirements. If you are interested in obtaining your child’s Star of Texas Award, be sure to submit your information to the Department of Early Education before February 15, 2018.
The Early Education Department also boasts the largest fleet of buses in the Fort Bend ISD. These buses offer transportation for both students and parents and are available to a variety of schools. In addition to this, the department provides a variety of clubs and activities.
Among the various Fort Bend ISD magnet programs is the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) Magnet Academy, a state of the art facility that offers a rigorous curriculum that will prepare students for the workforce of the future. The campus will also serve as the home base for a new partnership with the University of Houston at Sugar Land, who will provide professional development for FBISD teachers.
The new STEM Magnet Academy is part of SMSD’s $62 million bond program. The state of the art facility is a nod to the fact that Fort Bend is an epicenter of high tech in the region. The school is slated to open in the next few years. In the ensuing years, the academe will likely be expanded to accommodate more students.
Founded in 1980 by Jim King, Skyward is a school management system that is used by more than 1,900 schools throughout the world. This program is designed to automate the student administration process and simplify human resources.
The Fort Bend Independent School District (FBISD) is dedicated to academic excellence. To accomplish this, the district has incorporated cutting-edge technology to streamline registration for new students.
The FBISD Skyward is a student information system that provides an open platform for students and teachers to communicate. This system includes the ability to track grades, teaching activities, and attendance. Moreover, the system allows teachers and parents to communicate. The system also provides parents with a complete view of their child’s academic performance.
The Skyward system is available for most devices. It can be downloaded from the Google Play Store or the iTunes App Store. It is easy to use.
During the 2020-2020 school year, Fort Bend ISD received high accountability ratings for graduation rate and closing achievement gaps. The district also earned full accreditation status from the Texas Education Agency. It is the first time in seven years that the agency has published accountability ratings for the state.
The TEA assigns letter grades A-F to schools based on three criteria: student achievement, college readiness, and closing learning gaps. These three factors are evaluated on each campus, and overall grades are given based on the school’s progress. In addition, campuses with low scores will not receive a letter grade.
Fort Bend ISD received an overall rating of B. Despite a learning loss in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the district maintained its strong achievement scores. There are 10 schools that earned a 100 score in the Closing the Gaps domain. These include Commonwealth Elementary, Walker Station, and Fort Settlement Middle School.
Fine arts education
Whether you’re a budding artist or a seasoned professional, the Fort Bend ISD Department of Fine Arts provides opportunities to nurture your artistic talents and discover your true potential. Its programs are designed to nurture and challenge students while cultivating their skills in self-expression, higher-order thinking, and critical thinking. Using hands-on methods, the FBISD Fine Arts department will teach students how to use their imagination to produce works of art. In addition to promoting self-expression and character development, the department will provide equitable and accessible arts and cultural programs for the diverse community.
The Spring Fine Art and Cultural Club Showcase is an opportunity for the Fine Arts department to show off their work and provide a forum for student artists to share their skills. This event includes a gallery walk, performances by performing arts, and cultural clubs.
